Beyonce is sweet, honest, and innocent. So when she says she and Jay-Z are just friends or associates, I believe her. And when she exhales deeply at the end of a song, it's easy to believe she's genuinely sad. And when she says, in "Upgrade U", that she "...can do for you what Martin did for the people"-- well, it's a stretch, but her conviction sells it.

So the only thing that bugs me in her new video for "Upgrade U" is her styling. First, she rocks a toothpick, Sly Stallone-style, then gets all cougar'd out in a white pantsuit and tinted sunglasses. Neither look works: She's never pulled off street-tough, and the pantsuit? If you're gonna "upgrade" your guy with luxury items, try not to make him look like a mom from the 70s.
