Boris to Paint U.S. Pink

Frankly we can't think of too many word-pairs more incongruous than "Boris" and "Pink"-- say them aloud and watch the latter dance off your lips while the former loiters in your jowls.

But fuck it! Brace yourselves, argyle-sweater-adorned, java-juiced denizens of the new NPR republic: big ol' Boris 'bout to lay a heavy smack down. The Japanese prog-psych-sludge trio just served up Pink to native audiences, their strongest album to date (Pitchfork surrrvey says...8.7!). Come May 16, that dandy record will hit U.S. shores at last, and we have Southern Lord to praise for it.

The track titles have, perhaps graciously, been translated into English, so those of you puzzling over the Japanese characters in your ripped mp3 versions have something to cheer about. Hey, maybe you could even, I dunno, actually buy the album too?!

Pink is the new black:

01 Farewell
02 Pink
03 Women on the Screen
04 Nothing Special
05 Blackout
06 Electric
07 Pseudo-bread
08 Afterburner
09 Six, Three Times
10 My Machine
11 Just Abandoned My-self

Boris will embark next week on a month-long march across Europe, leaving naught by minds blown and jaws agape in their wake. Then they'll head to the States in late May and June for a brief tour of destruction.

Boris Yeltsin, meanwhile, will sob over his salad days in a cabin somewhere in Siberia. Hey, someone still loves ya:
