Cheated Hearts (Peaches Remix)
As if to remind us that what they are now doing is definitely not what they were doing when they started, the YYYs tapped dear Peaches to remix "Cheated Hearts" all electroclash stylee, which strangely results in a Fischerspooner song-- an old one. Quick, make an outfit out of electrical tape.
It is quite possible that this is a joke, though. The most Fever-ish of their Show Your Bones songs, the original "Cheated Hearts" stands out because it's the one that sounds like acquiescence to expectations. It's "Maps" and "Y Control" knocked out with one big rock sitting in the middle of the album. So, for the remix, of course the band would enlist har-har superstar Peaches to whip up a schlocky, synth-driven nod to their days of hype and poses. To drive it home, the song contains two slow, thumping builds-- with Karen's repeated "I'm bigger than the sound" line as the hook-- that conclude with totally anti-massive giddyup synth solos. Get it? I bet celebrity DJs do.
