Goody Goody
Danielson couldn't cram all of his few dozen Ships-mates onto his 7" B-sides, but he did lure away a little ghost girl from a Boards of Canada album to squeak alongside his ominous, "What am I capable of?" voice. That voice stalks the song's minimalist guitar and percussion arrangement, which is all about building tension until the quick, placid end: Instead of climaxing, his fiery imagery vanishes in a shimmer, 'cause everything's okay when you have friends. It's more sinister and introspective than the bravado of Ships, which is great-- counterarguments are what B-sides are for. But without a satisfying destination, the section that's creeping up on you feels like little more than an eerie fragment-- and I almost don't even care how the little girl got done for.
