"Ode to the LRC" [live; unreleased]

Video: Band of Horses: "Ode to the LRC" [live; unreleased]

First of all, the picture is bad: this clip looks like infrared footage of a decapitated body in death throes. But the sound is excellent, so just reduce the window and pretend it's KEXP or something. Recorded in Denton, Texas, this song is just Ben Bridwell and guitar-- not anthemic like "The Funeral", but more understated like "Monsters", with enticing lyrical details popping out of the dim sound: "...back to 1993...," "the hell I saw," "the world's such a wonderful place." This song may or may not appear on the new album scheduled for fall, and the footage itself is a nearly a year old. So why, you might ask, are we posting it now? Could we be excited about album number two from Band of Horses? Damn right, although not nearly as much as the guy going whoo! at the end of the clip. Dude is stoked for October. Many thanks to Sarah Clip for the tip.
